Information about Philippines
The Philippines, officially known as the Republic of the Philippines, is in south east Asia.
The Philippines lie next to Taiwan in the North, across the Luzon Strait. Across the South China Sea to the west is Vietnam, and south west across the Sulu Sea is the island of Borneo. To the south is the Celebes Sea, which separates the Philippines from other islands of Indonesia. It is bounded on the east by the Philippine Sea.

An archipelago comprising 7,641 islands, the Philippines is categorized broadly into three main geographical divisions, that we have used as the base for this map. These are: Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao. We have also added Siargao Island due to the quality of the surf spots there.

The capital city is Manila. The largest city is Quezon City. The population is heading towards 100 million and it's currency is the Peso.

Surfing in the Philippines

Generally, the best months for surf in the Philippines area are August through to the beginning of November. At this time of year the coast gets the most typhoon swells and the best winds for surfing. During May, June, and July, the surf is generally smaller, but when it's on the conditions are ideal.
It is less consistent at this time of year though, and can be a bit of a gamble if you are planning a surf trip at this time of year though.

From December to April the winds are often strong and cross shore. The swell is always nice and big, and many surfers prefer to plan their trips at this time of year. It's a great time to surf in the Philippines

>> Surfing in Bayawan City. VERY remote location. If you ever make it over there, contact Ecoastshredgirl. I've got a house directly on the shore that you'd be more than welcome to crash at.
