Surf Barbados - Quick Facts
LOCATION: Caribbean, island in the North Atlantic Ocean
POPULATION: 280000
NATIONALITY: Barbadian
LANGUAGE: English
CURRENCY: Barbadian dollar

Ahh Barbados! Barbados sits bathed in warm sunshine 350km off the coast of Venezuela. The island has the Caribbean's most consistent surf conditions with consistent swells all year round. The island really is a premier surfing destination! In winter the north and west coasts pick up plenty of swell and the constant trade winds ensure that the east coast breaks consistently.
The water temperature never drops below 25C and peaks at 28C in July and August. The island receives 3000 hours of sunshine and nearly 365 days of surf - yep - 365 days of surf! If there's no surf, put your sunnies on, pull on some flip-flops, and relax in the sunshine.
Barbados Surfing Info and Details
Size wise, Barbados surf is not much to send a postcard home about and although there are some sizeable waves on offer there are better places to go after monster waves. Our Barbados surf map shows many of the island's premier waves. The warm water temperature and the lovely tropical backdrops are worth the trip alone. The conditions are such that it would suit someone who enjoys chilling out on a beautiful island and surfing fun waves.

The best season for solid ground swell is from October to March when a size range will vary between 2 to 12 ft in the north of the island and clean 1 to 8 ft surf for the rest of the island (check out the surfing conditions below). The rest of the year the surf is between 2 to 6ft and often very glassy in the morning offering superb and memorable surfing conditions - ideal for a great surftrip.

Never been a Shark attack, water is warm year round, there are waves for all levels of surfing. Freights bay is the beginners dream, every coast has breaks.

South Point and Brandons in the on the South, Tropicana, Sandy Lane and Ignorance in the West, Duppies and Maycocks in the North, Soup Bowl, Sand Bank and Parlor in the East. These are just to name a few.

Barbados is a great location for a surfing holiday for surfers of all standards. If you are a novice, (having learned how to surfing from this very site no doubt!) there are few spots such as the mellow beachbreaks Sandbank and Ragged Point on the east coast. For the more experienced surfer there are breaks such as Duppies on the north coast and the treacherous Tropicana (see photo below) on the west coast.
