Q1. Type the given paragraphs. Do the questions based on the paragraphs below.
Paste the output after applying the formatting in the blank page.

Pollution
Pollution of the environment is a serious problem of industrialized societies.
Industrial development and the green revolution have had a negative impact on
the environment. People have converted the life support system of all living
people into their own resources and have greatly disrupted the natural ecological
balance. Serious degradation and depletion have been caused due to overuse,
abuse and mismanagement of resources to meet human greed.

Environmental pollution is defined as the adverse alteration of our environment.

It is a by-product of human activities that are directly or indirectly responsible for
the changes in the environment. These changes could be in the physical, chemical
or biological characteristics of air or water that are harmful to human life and
other living things.

The Taj Mahal in Agra is affected by the fumes emitted by the Mathura refinery.
The reports estimate that the monument would be destroyed in twenty years
because of the harmful effluents from the refinery's emissions.

Water pollution changes the quality of the water. This disrupts the balance of the
ecosystem and poses health risks. Water is polluted by the presence or addition
of inorganic and organic or biological substances. Industrial effluents that are
discharged into rivers further increase the levels of water pollution.
1. Apply Heading2 style for the paragraphs.
2. Create a custom style with the name Mycharstyle (Bold, Color green font

6. Write a program to create a list of students’ marks with user-defined values and find the
maximum.
Ans:
#Take input for n lines
n=int(input("Enter no. of subjects:"))
#Creating empty list
l=[]
#Accepting marks and appending marks into the list
for i in range(n):
m=int(input("Enter marks:"))
l.append(m)
l.sort()
print("Maximum marks scored:",l[-1])
7. Write a program to create a list of numbers and create a new list to store numbers
divisible by 5.
Ans. #Take input for no of subjects
n=int(input("Enter no. of subjects:"))
#Creating empty list
l=[]
d5=[]
#Accepting marks and appending marks into the list
for i in range(n):
m=int(input("Enter marks:"))
l.append(m)
#Swaping elements
for i in range(len(l)) :
if l[i] % 5 == 0 :
d5.append(l[i])
print("List of numbers divisible by 5:",d5)
8. Write a program to count the frequency of an element in the given list.
Ans: #Creating empty list
l = []
#Take input for n no. of elements
n=int(input("Enter the no. of elements:"))
#Append the values into the list
for i in range(n):
val=int(input("Enter value "+str(i+1)+":"))
l.append(val)
x=int(input("Enter element to count"))
print(l.count(x))

1. Height of following students are as follows:
2. Romesh - 158 cm, Jyoti – 138 cm, Sushma – 152 cm, Aryan – 157 cm
3. Define mean and median. Find the mean, median and range for the following list
of values:
4. 13, 18, 13, 14, 14, 16, 14, 21, 13
5. Define mean absolute deviation. Find and interpret the mean absolute deviation
of the data –
i. 9, 10, 11, 11, 12, 12, 13, 13, 14, 15
ii. 2, 4, 4, 5, 6, 7, 7, 7
6. Record how many of your near and dear ones like cricket and how many of them
like football. Create a two-way frequency table with the data.
7. Convert the following two-way frequency table into two-way relative frequency
table. The below table records the preferences of male and female architecture
students with regard to their choice of the subject as Landscaping or Interior
Decoration.
Preferences Boys Girls

Landscaping 35 20

Interior Decoration 15 30

Total 50 50

8. Define standard deviation. Calculate the Standard deviation where, the data
points are 5, 7, 3 and 7
9. If the arithmetic mean of 14 observations are 26, 12, 14, 15, x, 17, 9, 11, 18, 16,
28, 20, 22, 8 is 17. Find the missing observation (x).
10. The diameters of circles (in mm) drawn in a design are given below:

Calculate the standard deviation and mean diameter of the circles.
