One of the worlds great waves, a real classic when it is going off. This wave is a right hand point break that works from 2ft to 12ft+ on a mid to high tide. Depending on the size of the swell the wave can break in several places on the reef, including Centerside, Rincon, Outside Bells and Bells' Bowl.
The spot works on pretty much any swell with some south in it due to it being nice and exposed. Offshore in a northerly wind.
Bells Beach is one of the spots on the ASP World Tour. The Rip Curl Pro is held here annually and can now be viewed via the live webcam broadcast of the event. See Rip Curl Australia
This is one location that offers a great view of the break from on top of the cliffs. Bring your camera if you are not surfing.
Drive about an hour and a half out of Melbourne towards Torquay along the coast. It is located not far on the south side of Torquay.
The wave is accessed from the Bells Beach Reserve and there is plenty of parking available.
No equipment to hire at the break but there is a huge assortment of surf gear in the shops in Torquay just down the road.
Nothing near
Torquay bowls club is great for a counter meal and a beer
